Frequently asked questions about outsourced CAM programming

Your question is not listed? Give us a call or send us a message.

How much does outsourced CAM programming cost?

The price depends on part geometry, number of axes, tolerances and setups. Once we have reviewed your 3D model and drawing, you receive a fixed price per program or – for ongoing support – an hourly rate. You will usually have a quote within [24 hours].

What data do you need for an NC program?

Ideally: a 3D model (e.g. STEP, Parasolid, IGES or native CAD formats), a drawing with tolerances and surface specifications, stock and workholding, the machine and control, and your tool list. If anything is missing, we will sort it out with you.

Do I need my own hyperMILL® license?

No. You receive finished, simulated NC programs for your machine. All that is required is a suitable post processor for your machine and control – we check this before the first job. If you use hyperMILL® yourself, you also get the project file to keep working with.

Which machines and controls do you program for?

For 3-axis, 5-axis and mill-turn machines from the major manufacturers. Experience covers in particular [e.g. Heidenhain TNC, Siemens Sinumerik, Fanuc – please confirm]. The key factor is a matched post processor.

How quickly will I get my program?

That depends on scope and complexity. Simple 2.5D and 3D parts are often done within [1–3 working days]; complex 5-axis programs by arrangement. When you are in a bind, we prioritize rush jobs.

Do you work remotely or on site?

Both. Most programs are created remotely – you send the data, we deliver NC code and documentation. For prove-out, optimization at the machine or training, we come to you [enter service area].

How is my design data protected?

We use your data exclusively for your job. On request, we sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before we start. After the project, the data is deleted or archived as agreed.

How do you make sure the program runs without collisions?

Before delivery, every program is simulated with the machine model and checked for collisions and axis limits – provided a machine model is available. You also get a setup sheet with work offset, workholding and tools. On request, we support the prove-out.

We use a different CAM system. Does that still work?

Yes. We program in hyperMILL® and deliver the NC code for your machine – no matter which CAM system you use in house.

Can you help us introduce hyperMILL®?

Yes. We set up the tool database, templates and macros, align workflows with your production and train your team hands-on with your own parts.

Part on the bench, machine waiting?

Send us your 3D model and drawing. You get an estimate of effort, lead time and price – no obligation.
